Troubleshooting for HDL-GXW series

Setting up (Windows)...when DHCP server is available.  
Connecting to the network
 

Connect this product to the network and turn on the power supply.

This product can be used when it is properly booted up.

Make sure that the power supply of this product is turned off (the [POWER] LED is not illuminated).

Connect the LAN and power cables to this product.

(1)Connect the attached LAN cable to the LAN port located at the back of this product.
(2)Connect the other end of the LAN cable to the LAN port of the network device (broadband router or hub, etc.)
(3)Connect the power cable to the outlet.

 
Caution
O

Check the connection of the LAN cable.
Make sure to connect the LAN cable securely to this product and the network device before turning on the power supply of this product.
If the power supply of this product if turned on before the LAN cable is connected, you will not be able to participate in the network properly.

Since the LAN port of this product is Auto-MDI/MDI-X type, this product can be connected via the LAN port using any straight or cross LAN cables.

After confirming that the LAN cable is connected, push the [POWER] button located at the front of this product until you hear a "beep".

Caution
O

Turn on the power supply after connecting the LAN cable.

If the LAN cable is connected after power supply is turned on, this product will not be able to participate in the network properly.

The [STATUS] LED located at the front of this product flashes green.

When you hear a "Beep", and the [STATUS] LED illuminates green, then boot-up is complete.

The [STATIS] LED is flashing red.

Caution
O

ALWAYS press the [POWER] button when turning off the power supply.
[How to switch the power off]

DO NOT turn off the power supply by pulling out the AC adapter or by turning OFF the switch of the AC tap while the [POWER] LED is still illuminating (while this product is operating).
Failure to observe this may cause malfunctioning or loss of data.

Confirm also that [ACT/LINK] LED located under the LAN port in backplane of this product is illuminating in yellow.

The [ACT/LINK] LED does not illuminate.

Check the following:
The LAN cable is properly connected.
The power supply of the hub and other devices to which this product is connected.

The [1000/100/10] LED with the LAN port at the back of this product illuminates as follows:
> When connected with 1000BASE-T: Illuminates Orange.
> When connected with 100BASE-TX:Illuminates Green.
> When connected with 10BASE-T: LED is off.

 

 

 

For the cases" If you are already using an I-O Data HDL-GXW in the network to which this product is to be connected."and "If this product is shared by Mac OS and Windows", refer to the following.

If you are connecting a HDL-GXW Series for the first time, skip this section.

Open setup screen.
See [How to open setup screen]

Click [Quick Setup] in the setup screen.

Click [Network] shown on the left of the setup screen.

Change [HDL-GXW Name] to another name (for example, HDL-GXW1) and click the [OK] button.

After confirming the content in the [Confirmation] screen, click the [OK] button.

Confirm the content of your setting.

Setup is complete.

When this product is shared by Mac OS and Windows computers, set up this product according to the following procedure.

By executing the following setup, you will be able to connect this product to Mac OS. (See below on how to setup from Windows)

Open the setup screen.

Click [Setup] in the setup screen.

Click [Network]-[Shared Service Setting] in [Setup] shown on the left.

Check [AppleShare network file sharing] and click the [OK] button.

Caution
O

This product does not support zone setting.
This product does not support an environment where zones are set up.

[Result] is displayed.
After confirming that [AppleShare network] is [Enabled], close the setup screen

Setup is complete.
