The types of hard disk format that can be used with this product are shown in the following table. Note that read/write method differs depending on the type of format.

*1 When formatting using FAT or NTFS, format from the computer after connecting the hard disk to the computer. (For instructions on how to do this, refer to the Manual of the hard disk.)
*2 The format type is the one used to format in [Format] in the setup screen of this product.
When using an external hard disk with the specific format, it is necessary to reformat it after connecting the HDL-GXW series. Back up important data prior to doing this.

In Windows XP/2000/Me, this format supports up to 4G-1 Byte per 1 file.
In Windows 98(including SE), this format supports up to 2G-1 Byte per 1 file.

External hard disks formatted in the NTFS format will be unmountable on Macintosh computers.
